Printing is one of the world’s largest industries and biggest employers. From design to manufacture to a variety of printing processes, there are numerous career pathways to choose from in the printing and packaging industry. PrintNZ Training offers a variety of programmes to encourage students and school leavers to join our exciting and dynamic industry.


Gateway

Gateway is a Government programme designed to offer structured workplace learning to senior secondary school students in approved schools. Through Gateway, students can achieve unit standards while still at school, a great first step on the road towards a career in the printing industry.

Learning takes place through a mixture of work experience and study. Students complete their course requirements while undertaking work experience at a suitable printing company. PrintNZ Training monitors their progress and provides Study Notes and Training Guides to assist a student’s advancement.

Modern Apprenticeships

Modern Apprenticeships, aimed at 16-21 year olds, are a great way for young people to get on-the-job training while getting paid and studying towards an internationally recognised National Certificate apprenticeship. Modern Apprenticeships usually take three years to complete, although this timeframe can vary, depending on which training programme is chosen.
