General training

PrintNZ Training delivers a wide range of flexible, on-the-job training programmes for the print industry. These include apprenticeship training, production support and introductory programmes. Information leaflets on training for different sectors within the industry are available on the Qualifications and Training programmes page.

Print industry employees need a wide range of skills to complete their roles. On this page you will find details of other types of training and assistance, including:

Help with Literacy skills

Literacy skills include reading, writing and maths skills as well as comprehension and problem solving skills. Literacy skills are among the most important skills needed for work. Poor literacy levels are having an impact on businesses and the economy, leading to lower productivity, lost time, wastage, errors and can contribute to workplace accidents.

PrintNZ Training can provide practical and financial help through our Workplace Literacy Fund to help businesses improve the literacy skills of their employees. We act as a facilitator between a business and learning specialists, who provide tutors and literacy programmes. Tutors can provide one-on-one or with a small group of employees, often in the workplace. A number of businesses have had employees complete literacy training with more confidence and improved performance in the workplace.

For more information talk to your Training Liaison Officer or call 0800 654 455.

Help with general training

Along with the printing specific training that PrintNZ Training administers, we can also assist with other general training in areas such as:

  • Customer service
  • First Line Management
  • Communication
  • OSH
  • First Aid
  • Environmental studies

Most of the training in these areas will be carried out through our preferred providers/partners. The training is often formally linked to NZQA qualifications.
