December 2009
Time to Reflect....
This
has been another busy year for our industry and a challenge for many as
they have had to change the shape of their businesses to operate in a time
of recession.
PrintNZ
has continued to provide services to support our members in these times and
will continue to be diligent about helping our industry as we move
into 2010 and start to move out of recession.
Thank you
to all our members, and particularly to those businesses that have provided
support and sponsorship to our organisation and events during the
year.
Our
offices are closed from Thursday 24 December to Thursday 14 January.
However if you need any assistance over this time you can contact me
on 027 248 9404.

Industry Survey Report posted last week
The
2009 survey report has been mailed out to members and should be in
your hands early this week. If you do not receive your copy by
Wednesday, or if you require additional copies, please give me a
call and we will get them to you.
Just a
reminder that the circulation of this report is for Members Only and
we would ask that you respect this benefit of membership by not passing it
on to others.
Thanks to
all of those who contributed to the survey results - without your input
there would be no report to publish. Our thanks also go to
Wickliffe, Soar Printing and Spicers Paper
for their assistance in the publication and printing of this
document.
Moving
Into 2010....
Following
on the from research carried out with print buyers and consumers, the
major project for PrintNZ in 2010 will be the 'Part of Life' print campaign
which is aimed at raising the profile of our industry with three
main phases:
- Engaging the industry to
gain support for the campaign and signing up businesses, organisations
and individuals as Print Champions
- A print buyer campaign to
encourage greater use of print in the total communication mix
- A consumer campaign to
positively shift the perceptions of print.
We already
have 58 Print Champions signed on to date, and our Membership Services
team will be talking to members on their first round of visits next year to
explain why everyone should be a part of this broad reaching campaign.
For
further information about the campaign or to become a Print Champion please
email printchampion@printnz.co.nz

Ipex Study Tour and Plant Visits
The
IPEX trade show is on in Birmingham from 25 - 29
May 2010 and at the conclusion of IPEX PrintNZ in
conjunction with Print Yorkshire is organising a 2 - 3 day tour visiting a
number of leading UK print operations to look at workplace productivity and
other best practice initiatives. Print Yorkshire is headed by Robert McClements who spoke at our 2008 conference.
All
arrangements will be made for you and the cost of the tour is being
subsidised by UK Trade and Enterprise. This is a unique opportunity
to view some very efficient printing operations outside of our country at
very minimal cost.

PRODUCTS FOR OUR
INDUSTRY:
#1
Carbon Footprinting tool now available in MIS
package
For
those printers who want to enhance their profitability and win new business
the new "green" features of Quote & Print Software will
enable them to identify and improve their carbon footprint, energy
efficiency and material usage on a stock-by-stock, job-by-job and
whole-company basis.
The system
also incudes Chain of Custody capture, tracking
and auditing features for printers that go down the FSC/PEFC
certification track. All this information can be included in
user-definable quote letters, job tickets and reports at the press of a
button.
From a
printer that uses the system "you dont have
to be a tree-hugging greenie to want to account for and reduce your
environmental impact, plus it makes good business sense.
Sustainable printing is fast becoming a requirement for corporate and
government accounts, but words and logos aren't enough - you have to
provide solid data."

information on this product please contact rob@taylored.co.nz

Finance for our Industry
ORIX
Commercial Finance & Leasing have made the following offer for our
industry:
Here at
ORIX we understand times have been tough and it can be difficult to come up
with big deposits on new gear. We also appreciate the fact that your
equipment will have a significant value once it is paid off under a
"normal" finance agreement.
We can
offer PrintNZ members 100% financing on asset acquisitions removing the
burden of a large cash deposit. We can also set balloon payments at
the end of the term to reduce monthly payments and reflect the true useful
life of the asset.
If you
have any queries you can contact ORIX on 0800 10 ORIX or email rowan.coker@orix.co.nz
